Week ahead 3: Everton Zanella Alvarenga

Last week

  • Gave a talk about Open Knowledge Foundation and the incubating Brazilian chapter at W3C Brazil event on Rio de Janeiro (slideshare and PDF on Commons)
  • Memorandum of Understanding between W3C Brazil and OKFn – Brazilian chapter (need to finish details and send to OKFn board)
  • Organized a meeting between Odilon Guedes (CORECON SP), Gisele Craveiro (USP) and Thiago Rodon (Opendata Brasil) for a local Open Spending in São Paulo – everybody got excited with the meeting!
  • Connected Etienne Posthumus, from Bibserver, to Sueli Ferreira and Ewout ter Haar (Open Access at University of São Paulo). Unfortunatelly they couldn’t meet while Etienne was in São Paulo
  • Talked to Carlos Affonso, from CTS (Center of Technology and Society) FGV in Rio de Janeiro, about OKFn Brasil and possible projects we could collaborate. He likes the idea.
  • Talked to professor Cristiane Costa (thanks to César Viana!), from the Communication School of UFRJ, about datajournalism and how we could collaborate. I’ve alread proposed an workshop on datajournalism for beginning of the next year and W3C Brazil has already started to form a working group on datajournalism. She is willing to help.
  • Discussed with Gisele about the project for the incubator of University of São Paulo (USP) we are submiting this Monday
  • Proposed to Roberto Agune OKFn helping them with an app competion for the São Paulo state governamental data
Week ahead
  • Finish the project for the incubator of USP
  • Participate of the release of the freedom of information request site “Queremos saber” at Casa de Cultura Digital
  • Translate the Brazilian blog and start bloging (finally!)
  • Translate our wiki
  • Talk to Carolina Rossini, that leads the project Open Educational Resources Brazil (REA BR) project, about OKFn and how could we collaborate
  • Talk to Access Info on former ideas (translating Legal Leaks to Portuguese)
  • Discuss about a possible collabotation with Wikimedia Foundation on this national program director
